When sea freight is the right choice
Consignments for which cost matters more than speed go by sea. Most often these are goods from the USA, Canada, China and a number of European countries.
In the company’s experience, for consignments of 500 kg and more, sea freight is usually the most economical mode of transport, especially over long distances.
Full container or groupage consignment
If there is enough cargo to fill a container, it is shipped as a full container load (FCL): the container is loaded at the shipper’s premises and carried to the consignee without the goods being handled. A small consignment travels in a shared container (LCL) together with other shippers’ cargo.

What the transport arrangement includes
We work door to door. A personal manager is assigned to your shipment and handles it throughout.
The manager requests the documents in advance so that everything is ready for clearance by the time the vessel arrives. The transport arrangement includes:
- collection of the cargo from the supplier and delivery to the port of departure
- consolidation at a warehouse, if there are several consignments
- ocean freight
- customs clearance
- delivery to the consignee’s warehouse by road or by rail
- cargo insurance, on request
What we need for a quote
To prepare a preliminary calculation within 1–2 days, send the cargo details via Telegram or to info@logistic.today (contacts):
- exact name of the cargo, for classification under the HS (TN VED) code
- gross and net weight, volume of the consignment
- place and date of departure
- place of delivery
- your preferences on delivery method and transit time

How much does sea freight cost?
The cost depends on the route, the weight and volume of the consignment, the nature of the cargo and the delivery terms. There are no ready-made prices on the website: we calculate each consignment individually. We prepare a preliminary calculation within 1–2 days.
How long does cargo take by sea?
Transit time depends on the port of departure, the vessel’s route, transshipments on the way and customs clearance. We give an indication of transit time together with the cost calculation, within 1–2 days of your request.
Can a small consignment be sent by sea?
Yes, in a shared container. In the company’s experience, sea freight becomes economical for consignments of 500 kg and more. For smaller consignments it is worth comparing it with air freight and groupage delivery; we will do this when we prepare the quote.
Which should I choose: a full container or space in a shared one?
It depends on the volume and weight of the consignment and on whether the cargo can be shipped alongside other goods. Send us the consignment details and we will calculate both options and show you the difference.
Do you handle customs clearance of sea cargo?
Yes, we organise customs clearance as part of the delivery. Our specialists will help with any customs procedure.
Which documents are needed for sea freight?
Usually these are the foreign trade contract, invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Some goods require permits. The exact list depends on the goods, and your manager will give it to you.
Will you deliver the cargo from the port to our warehouse?
Yes. We work door to door: after the sea leg the cargo goes to the consignee’s warehouse by road or by rail. This is multimodal transport.
