When road transport is the right choice
Road freight is the most common way of delivering groupage and general cargo. Road transport offers the best balance of cost and transit time.
The truck collects the cargo from the supplier and brings it to the consignee’s warehouse, with no dependence on a port, airport or station.
This method carries goods of all kinds, from equipment and components to packaged consumer goods.
Dedicated truck or groupage
If a consignment fills a whole truck, it travels on a separate trip. It is more economical to send a small consignment as groupage cargo: it passes through a consolidation warehouse and travels together with other shippers’ cargo.
Which option is more economical depends on the weight, volume and urgency of the consignment. When calculating, we compare both.
We select the vehicle to suit the nature of the cargo. Large and heavy cargo is handled by the oversized cargo department.
What the transport arrangement includes
We work door to door. A personal manager is assigned to your shipment and handles it throughout.
The manager keeps you informed on the progress of the cargo and requests the customs documents in advance. The transport arrangement includes:
- collection of the cargo from the supplier’s warehouse
- consolidation, if there are several consignments
- carriage and border crossing
- customs clearance
- delivery to the consignee’s warehouse

How much does international road freight cost?
The cost depends on the route, the weight and volume of the consignment, the nature of the cargo and whether it travels on a dedicated truck or as part of a groupage load. There are no ready-made prices on the website. We prepare a preliminary calculation within 1–2 days.
How many days does the truck take?
Transit time depends on the route, border crossing and customs clearance and, for groupage cargo, on how long it takes to assemble the consignment at the warehouse. We give an indication of transit time together with the calculation.
Can I send a small consignment rather than a whole truck?
Yes. Small consignments travel as groupage cargo together with other shippers’ cargo.
Do you collect the cargo directly from the supplier?
Yes. We work door to door: we collect the cargo from the supplier’s warehouse and bring it to the consignee’s warehouse.
Which documents are needed for road freight?
Usually these are the foreign trade contract, invoice, packing list and the international consignment note (CMR). Some goods require permits. The exact list depends on the goods.
Who handles customs clearance?
We do. We organise customs clearance as part of the delivery; our specialists will help with any customs procedure.
