Why consolidate

Consolidation means combining several shipments into one consignment. It is used to connect the links of the logistics chain, achieve optimal transit times and delivery costs, and carry out additional handling of the cargo.

Instead of several small consignments, each of which has to be transported and cleared separately, one consignment travels.

This is especially noticeable when goods are bought from several suppliers in one country or in neighbouring countries.

Where the warehouses are

The company offers consolidation warehouses in the following countries: Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the USA, Brazil, China, Indonesia and others.

Suppliers send the goods to the nearest warehouse. Once the shipment is assembled, it travels to the consignee by a suitable mode of transport — either as groupage cargo or as part of multimodal transport.

Your manager will advise which warehouse suits your suppliers.

What happens to the cargo at the warehouse

Please ask your manager which additional operations are possible at a particular warehouse. A consolidation warehouse usually performs the following:

  • receiving cargo from suppliers
  • checking the number of packages against the documents
  • storage until the shipment is assembled
  • combining into one consignment
  • preparation for onward transport

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does cargo consolidation cost?

The cost depends on the country and warehouse, the weight and volume of the shipments, the storage period and the handling operations. There are no ready-made prices on the website. We prepare a preliminary quote within 1–2 days.

In which countries do you have consolidation warehouses?

Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the USA, Brazil, China, Indonesia and others. If the country you need is not on the list, ask us and we will tell you whether consolidation is possible there.

Can goods from several suppliers be combined into one consignment?

Yes, that is the main purpose of a consolidation warehouse. We will propose a collection and dispatch scheme when preparing the quote.

How long can cargo be stored at the warehouse?

The storage period depends on the warehouse and on how quickly the shipment is assembled. We agree the terms when preparing the quote.

My supplier does not deliver the goods themselves. Will you collect the cargo?

Yes. We work on a door-to-door basis: we arrange collection of the cargo from the supplier’s warehouse and delivery to the consolidation warehouse.

Is repacking and labelling done at the warehouse?

The availability of additional operations depends on the warehouse and the cargo. Tell us what exactly you need, and we will confirm and include it in the quote.

By what mode of transport will the cargo leave the warehouse?

Whichever suits the route and timing: by road, sea, air or rail. We will compare the options when preparing the quote.
