Export from Kazakhstan: where to start

The first question is the delivery terms under Incoterms. They determine who books the transport and up to which point the seller is responsible: their own warehouse, the border or the buyer’s warehouse in Turkey. If the terms have not been agreed yet, we will compare the options at a foreign trade consultation. After that we need the cargo details, and we prepare the estimate.

Route and transport

The cargo travels west across the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus, or overland through Russia. For heavy and bulk cargo rail with a ferry crossing is usually chosen, and for finished goods on pallets road transport. A multimodal scheme combines both methods. Oversized equipment is calculated separately. The choice depends on the cargo, the place of departure and the delivery city in Turkey. We compare the options in the estimate.

Documents and customs

The export declaration in Kazakhstan is filed by the sender or its customs representative. In Turkey the cargo is cleared by the consignee or its broker. For shipment, a contract, invoice, packing list and transport document are usually prepared. Some goods require a certificate of origin or permits. We check this against the HS code before preparing the estimate. We agree the document set in advance so that the cargo does not wait at the border.

How we work

One manager handles the shipment from the warehouse in Kazakhstan to the consignee in Turkey. He or she agrees the loading date, prepares the transport documents and stays in touch until unloading. The company has offices in Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Istanbul, and representative offices in Almaty and Astana. We state the cost and transit time in the estimate, which is ready in 1–2 days.
