How cargo travels from Turkey to Kazakhstan
Turkey and Kazakhstan have no common border, so the route is always in transit. There are two main options: through the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea, or overland through Russia. The first includes a ferry crossing, the second does without one. Which way suits you depends on the nature of the cargo, urgency and the delivery city. We compare both options in the estimate.
Modes of transport
Road transport is convenient for door delivery and groupage consignments. Rail suits containers and heavy cargo. A multimodal shipment combines truck, ferry and rail. Urgent small shipments go by air. Collection from the supplier and delivery to the consignee’s door are included in the same estimate.
The customs side
Kazakhstan is a member of the EAEU, and imports from Turkey are cleared under the Union’s rules. The import declaration is filed by the Kazakh consignee or its customs representative. In transit the cargo moves under the customs transit procedure. We prepare the transport documents and agree the clearance document set with the consignee in advance: contract, invoice, packing list. Some goods require conformity documents under EAEU requirements: we check this against the HS code.

Who clears the cargo through customs in Kazakhstan?
The import declaration is filed by the consignee in Kazakhstan or its customs representative. We prepare the transport documents and agree the clearance document set with the consignee in advance.
Does the cargo need to be cleared in Russia if it travels in transit?
No. Transit cargo moves under customs control and is not released for free circulation in Russia. Import clearance takes place once, in Kazakhstan. We check whether transit is possible for the specific goods before preparing the estimate.
Can I send a small consignment?
Yes, we send small consignments as groupage cargo. We will tell you in the estimate whether a suitable groupage shipment is available for your dates.
Will you collect the cargo from the supplier’s warehouse in Turkey?
