What to check before shipment

Export starts with checking the goods. Some goods are subject to restrictions on export from Russia or on import into European countries, and some require licences and permits. We check this against the HS code before preparing the estimate and only take on shipments that are permitted by the legislation of both sides. For the check, send the exact name, a description of the goods and the buyer’s country.

Export clearance and documents

The export declaration is filed in Russia: in Saint Petersburg, in Moscow or in the sender’s region. The basic set: contract, invoice, packing list and transport document. Import clearance in the destination country is usually handled by the buyer or its broker. Who is responsible for what is determined by the delivery terms under Incoterms. Some goods require a certificate of origin or other documents requested by the buyer.

Transport

Road transport suits palletised and groupage cargo. Containers and large consignments are sent by sea. Air freight is chosen for urgent shipments and samples. The methods can be combined in a multimodal shipment. We state the route and the border crossing point in the estimate. We collect the cargo from the sender’s warehouse in Russia and deliver it to the buyer’s warehouse or to the point specified in the contract.

If you do not have your own export department

Companies entering export for the first time do not have to hire specialists straight away. Preparing the contract and documents and dealing with customs can be handed over to foreign trade outsourcing. One-off questions are covered by foreign trade consulting. The manager handles the shipment from document preparation until the buyer receives the cargo. We state the cost and transit time in the estimate within 1–2 days.
